Today Trek launches its new Gravel platform, Checkpoint. The range comprises of Aluminium and Carbon bikes built on the foundations of Boone’s geometry but tailored specifically to offer everything the gravel adventurer needs including a wide range of gears, big tyre clearance and a monster load of mount options.
Trek are yet to launch the bikes on their UK site but you can view Checkpoint info and geometry on the Trek USA website (spec to UK bikes may vary slightly). You’ll find the full range of UK bikes listed below along with prices.
You can view the new checkpoint for yourself. We have the SL5 and ALR 4 already on the shop floor.
Why Trek’s new Gravel bike is just perfect for Mid Wales.
We have long seen the potential of this kind of bike for our location, even before dedicated gravel models started to become available we were trying to squeeze bigger tyres onto CX bikes and adding bikepacking gear to extend the range into overnight trips and beyond.
Here in Mid Wales we are blessed with more miles of mountain roads, forest tracks and trail than we could ever hope to explore in a lifetime of riding. This is terrain that’s more easily unlocked with a gravel bike. Much swifter on a long ride in than any mountain bike could be, gravel bikes offer the opportunity for everything from short local road blasts to epic explorations, right from your own doorstep. You can delve deep into our beautiful Welsh countryside and discover new, secret places. Go backwoods, camp, explore or just get fit griding the many back roads, tracks and trails of Wales. Adventure awaits.
