L’evo-lution! (sorry) – Today Specialized unveils the very latest iteration of the Levo platform, an eagerly anticipated evolution of the platform that has set the standard for the modern emtb since its inception. We see three new Levo models, Levo Comp Carbon, Levo Comp Alloy and Levo Base Alloy, all of which see a swathe of new features and technical improvements over their predecessors. The 3 new models all feature the new Turbo Full Power 2.2 motor, including the two new alloy models that bring some great new features and Levo performance to a more accessible price point.
Cast an eye over the bike and the first thing you’ll notice is it’s a mixed wheel. With a 29” front and 27.5” rear. Specialized opted for mixed to accommodate shorter chainstays to create a bike that was sharper and more nimbler handling and yet still capable of delivering some big tire advantage including better roll-over and extra grip for carving corners.
Now supplying up to 565 watts of peak power and 90Nm of torque, the new motor as much as quadruples your efforts, which with a 700wh motor can deliver up to 5 hours of ride time. The Base Alloy has slight step down, a 500wh battery but is equipped with smart battery management that means you’ll still get impressive ride times and won’t run out of juice.
With a steeper seat tube angle, longer front end, and more relaxed head tube the geometry is at the more progressive end of things, but this means a bike that’s optimised for traction with enhanced stability in the rough and when riding at speed. There’s even a flip chip that allows geometry adjustment of the head angle between 63 and 65.5 degrees, raising or lowered the bottom bracket +/- 7mm, allowing you to tune the bike precisely to your preference.
Offering a bump swallowing 150mm of silky smooth RX Tuned suspension delivered by Fox or Rock Shox units (model/size dependent) you can expect a smooth ride with great handling and bags of traction. No surprise really as Levo’s been raising the bar on emtb motor, suspension and all round rideability since its arrival.
You’ll find more information on Specialized website but better still, why not come and take a look for yourself (Yep, we have an . You’ll find a Levo Comp Carbon on display in store today but don’t hand about as we don’t anticipate that it will be here for long.
