20th October 2018

UPDATE: 20/10/2018:

Our 20 Years Celebration is today.

JOIN US AT 4pm FOR OUR CAKE CUTTING

Put the date in your diary, it’s our 20th Birthday Celebration!

Yes, that’s right it really has been 20 years. In October 1998 Summit Cycles first opened it’s doors here at 65 North Parade, Aberystwyth for the very first time. A lot has happened and the store today has changed beyond all recognition from the one we sold our first bike (a Trek 820) from in 1998.

So on Saturday 20th October to celebrate we’ll be throwing open our doors to welcome all our customers with a day of celebration, to say thank you to everyone for being part of our journey.

There will be plenty going on. We’ll have some great offers and will be opening up our workshop to allow our technical staff to give advice and tips on bike care and maintenance. Meet our team and a few familiar faces and bikes from our past.

So mark the date to be sure you join us for our Birthday Celebration, wishing Summit Cycles a Happy 20th.

What’s happening (in store)

  • Open Workshop – Meet our technical staff, they will be on hand with helpful tips & advice on bike care, maintenance and setup.
  • Bikes! – We’ll have some old and some new. Form vintage Summit Cycles shop bikes to cutting edge new 2019 models.
  • OFFER | 20% OFF ALL CLOTHING, PARTS & ACCESSORIES*(Excludes cycle computers and GPS units) Offer includes items at full retail price only, not sale items.
  • OFFER | BUY A NEW BIKE AND WE’LL GIVE YOU 20% OF IT’S PRICE AS FREE ACCESSORIES (Includes Clothing, Parts & Accessories)*(Excludes cycle computers and GPS units) Offer includes items at full retail price only, not sale items.
  • Classic bike flicks. We’ll be dusting off some riding films that inspired us back in the day. Hold on to your VHS, we’re trippin down memory lane.
  • Cake! Well of course. You can’t have a party without cake. At 4pm we’ll be inviting everyone to gather round for the cutting of our 20th Birthday cake. Time to raise a glass to the last 20 years of riding and to many more to come.

The party continues….. (at the pub)

After the shop closes at 5pm we will be heading to our favourite local biker pub (no not that kind!) the Ship & Castle to continue our celebration with anyone who’d like to join us.

And there’s more……. (the recovery ride) POSTPONED

On Sunday 21st, weather permitting, we’ll all be heading out on a VERY relaxed social ride to Black Covert (and back). It’s a ‘run-what-you-brung‘ affair, no bikes or riding abilities are off limits. Bring your kids, bring your gran, bring anyone with 2 wheels who can make it to the destination (and back). In return we’ll supply a hot cup of tea and cake at a feed station at the destination. We’ll post details of our intended departure time here a few days before the ride. EVERYONE WELCOME.

Share your cycling memories with us

Our customers are the most important part of our story so as part of our celebration, we’d love to hear your stories. If we sold you a bike in the past 20 years that has set you on your own cycling journey we would love to hear about it and share it with others. We’s also love to hear your memories of our shop or shop staff over the years and, in particular, see any cycling pictures you have from the past 20 years that show you with a bike that was bought from us.

We’ll be compiling stories and images to display on the day and to share via our website with some prizes for those we enjoy the most (we’ll need permission to use them).

You can email your memories, stories or images to toby@summitcycles.co.uk (with the subject line: 20 YEARS ) or share them with us via social media using the hashtag #SummitCycles20yrs and tag us in, we are @SummitCyclesUK on Twitter and Facebook, @summit_cycles on Instagram.

We will post lots more information about the day very soon but for now we wanted to let you know
