Our big build, a new store for 2015

Posted on: 19/11/2014 at 10:55am

It’s finally under way, the building work has begun on our new bigger store.

Some of you may have noticed we’ve been getting a little cramped of late and with so many exciting new bikes coming to market we have been running out of space.

So quietly behind the scenes we have been working on a project to expand the store so that our staff don’t have to constantly limbo through tunnels built of bike boxes and our customers can browse our full range of bikes and accessories in more comfort.

We took over the premises next door to the existing shop and the builders are already hard at work making this ready to be stage one of the new Summit Cycles.  At some point in the new year we will transfer the shop into this space while the builders work on renovating the existing shop premises.

Finally we will connect the two premises into one and also open up some space on the first floor, gaining the room we need to spread out.  You can expect to see more bikes and more accessories, an expanded workshop area and bike storage.  This will mean better capacity and shorter workshop turn around times.  We will gain more space for clothing and a dedicated bike fit station.

We are very excited and if all goes to plan we hope to have zero down time during the process so even though we may be shrouded in scaffold and you may have to dodge the odd wheelbarrow our doors will remain open throughout.

We are extremely grateful to all our customers who have supported us so far and thank everyone for putting up with a little disruption over the next few months (although we’ll do our utmost to keep this to a minimum).

When done you can expect a grand opening so keep your eyes peeled on our facebook and twitter feeds for news of progress.
