This year we have grown bigger and better, taking on a neighbouring property and expanding our premises to more than double it’s original size. More bikes, accessories, clothing, spare parts and an expanded and upgraded workshop. All of this with the same great service and expert advice that our customers have come to expect.
Adding new services like bike fitting and a dedicated women’s cycling section our expansion has allowed us to offer a more than ever before.
With bikes from Trek, Specialized, Santa Cruz, Electra and Frog and a huge range of cycle clothing and accessories we have products to cover every cycling discipline.
|Our dedicated women’s cycling section showcases a selection of women specific bikes, clothing and accessories.|

Meet the team
Jim Haddon (Manager)
Once an Aberystwyth Student, Jim has also served the cycling cause in the most honourable of fashions as a trail builder. While we may no longer benefit from his singletrack creations, we do gain his years of expertise in cycling, mountain biking and as an all round mountain man. A man of fewer word, Jim's quiet precision and deft application of knowledge have been keeping Summit Cycles running smoothly since 2002. But don't be fooled by his thoughtful and approachable demeanour, he's still an animal on a mountain bike and will be at your line if it buys him a wheels advantage. Jim has faced and conquered all manner of physical challenges, mountain marathons, grinding enduro's and of course, the most gruelling test of all, January staff rides in the freezing Welsh sleet. To top it all off he recently became a father, so if you catch him looking tired and rest deprived it may not be the training.
Rhys Tall (Sales & Technician)
Triathlete, mountain biker, all round nice guy. Our very own Fireman Sam, when he's not working hard in store or riding his Trek road bike or X Caliber 29er he's out saving lives as a retained fire fighter. After finishing an Iron Man 70.3 Rhys is training hard to improve his results while having to fend off puns about climbing the ladder.
Speak to Jem and you could be forgiven for thinking he'd been delivered to us from a land down under, actually he's a UK native. We think he just spent a little too long out in the sun while down there or perhaps just heard that antipodeans were faster on a bike. As a student he's with us on & off but he's easy to identify when he's about. Listen for the Aussie slur and peculiar signs of his curious attraction to progressive rock. Nope, we can't explain why either.
Toby Bragg (Marketing and Events)
Toby has been part of Summit's story since the shop first opened it's doors in 98 when he traded 6 weeks as a shop floor employee for board and lodging to help get Summit rolling. Since then Toby has been a cycle industry fixture, working mostly in distribution. He's not scared to grab a wrench though and has served time as a brake tech at events on the mountain bike world cup race circuit. Toby's role is varied but includes tinkering away in the back office, feeding the social media monster and knocking our events into shape. We're told he also had a clandestine spell as an award winning artisan baker but we're still waiting for cake to materialise.
Joe Hayward (Owner)
Cut Joe and he bleeds chain lube. The owner and founder of Summit Cycles, Joe has been riding bikes for longer than any of us, particularly Joe, care to remember. His days as an Elite XC racer might be done but Joe is never far from the saddle and likes to make sure we all know his pedigree isn't tempered by his years. Likewise experience hasn't dampened his love of cycling and his hunger for new challenges and exploration, so when he isn't seeking out and testing new trail sections for events like the Dyfi Enduro he's probably hammering out some extra miles on his cross bike. His talent off the bike as el Capitán del barco has got Summit and it's sister store Beics Brenin where they are today. Joe's presence as a firm hand on the tiller always ensures we are on course and leaves us all wondering how he finds time to stay that fit.
West Wales is a cyclists dream, filled with quiet country back roads and scenic mountain passes for the road cyclist. And, for the mountain biker there are miles of twisty forest singletrack and rocky mountain trail to explore. Wales, with its network of off-road trail centres and varied open forest and mountain terrain, offers enough mountain biking to feed the appetite of even the most trail hungry cyclist.

For the mountain bikers a dedicated trail centre with graded way marked trails can be found just 10 miles east of Aberystwyth at Nant yr Arian.
